Here is our review of American Cruise Lines after sailing with them on their 8-day Great Rivers of Florida river cruise. You get to meet a lot of people, don't get lost in the crowds. All the staff was very friendly, accommodating and respectful. They are always available to answer questions and manage to smile even if they have probably heard that question asked at least 20 times.

American Cruise Lines says that the average age for all of its passengers is low 60s. But that's not what we observed on our Lower Mississippi River cruise. On that sailing, the average age was easily 75, with many passengers older than that.

I love the fact that it maxes at 100 guests and it is a casually refined craft that makes you feel... While the food, our stateroom and the tours were all above average, what really sets this line... Listen, you can have the best ships in the world, but if the staff and crew can’t make you feel at home and well taken care of, then forget it. The experience, the atmosphere, and the vibe that the crew created on this cruise were the best we’ve ever experienced on any cruise ship. And for those of you who might have dietary restrictions, on the first day of sailing, the cruise line offered a meeting with the chef to discuss your individual needs.

While most of the material online pertained to reviews on specific ships, our interest was intended towards comparing Cruise Lines rather than individual voyagers. Using a consensus approach, we shortlisted the cruise lines which had been recommended most frequently. Further research was narrowed to these cruise lines only. The Columbia and Snake river cruise was like taking a week long history class. We followed the Lewis & Clark rout via river and were treated very well by the friendly crew.
The meals were scrumptious and even offered half portions when less hungry. The cruise was a 5 in so many ways but I could not give the entertainment and the food an exceptional score. Tho some food was excellent, other times, especially at lunch, it was not.The staff were indeed a 5 in every way.For the price here in USA I expected more than on other riverboats. This was my second cruise with American Cruise Lines. My sister and I had a wonderful trip full of fun and fellowship.

Carol and I enjoyed sailing with ACL on their Great Rivers of Florida itinerary. We sailed on the St. Johns River, the Tolomato River, and the Intercoastal Waterway. We never felt a wave, and Amelia Island and St. Augustine were the stars of the show. One of our clients wrote on our Instagram Page that Amelia Island was her happy place. The crew was friendly, accommodating, and accessible. Small numbers and open seating for dining made it easy to get to know just about all the passengers.

Tour guides were extremely informative and provided extensive historical information. Food was excellent and had something for everyone. Colin, Thania, Mark and Princess get high marks for their service and dedication.

We just wish our guide for one of the walking tours had a microphone since we couldn’t hear a lot of what was said. Tours were great, staff was always pleasant and helpful. You almost made 5star (and I still think 4 star is a great rating) but in comparison to other river cruises such as Viking or Scenic you’re not quite at that level. However I also need to consider price and I would say that in comparison you do provide great value per dollar.. We had the pleasure of sailing on American Cruise Line's brand new ship - the American Eagle!

For example, from the moment we walked on the ship, Alicia, the ship’s Hotel General Manager, greeted us by name, and she was always magically around, making sure that we were delighted in every way.
